The story behind Genie
Over 15 years in for-profit post-secondary financial aid, I've helped thousands of students navigate FAFSA, award letters, R2T4 calculations, Title IV audits, SAP policies, and verification.
Year after year, the same pattern: students and families desperate for clear answers while financial aid offices stayed understaffed and staff burned out. Government handbooks are dense and written for compliance officers, not students. The stakes — tuition, enrollment, and federal aid eligibility — could not be higher.
Genie was built to close that gap. Not as a replacement for your financial aid office, but as a reliable companion that offers clarity at 2 a.m. before a deadline, helps decode award letters, and prepares you for any financial aid conversation.
Along the way, that work deepened a belief in the power of philanthropy and what a truly student-centric learning environment can do. When students are met with clarity instead of confusion, they stay enrolled, they persist, and they succeed.
Our mission
Make financial aid understandable, accessible, and actionable for every person who touches it — whether you are a first-generation student, a parent decoding an award letter, or a financial aid administrator running an R2T4 withdrawal.
Genie is designed to cover API and hosting costs initially. If genuine demand grows, we will explore sustainable paths that keep the tool affordable. If growth is successful, the developer hopes to create scholarship opportunities for subscribed users.
